What to expect during an office visit requiring treatment:
Typical office procedures are injection of medicine into the vitreous space (posterior aspect of the eye) and laser of the retina.
Vitreous Injection
- Macular Degeneration
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Macular edema from vein occlusion
- Ocular inflammation
Vitreous injections are performed in a procedure room. The procedure only takes a few minutes and you may carry on with your normal routine after the procedure.
Laser Treatment
- Macular edema from diabetes or vein occlusion
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Retinal tears
Laser treatment varies slightly depending on the condition treated. Most laser treatments are easily tolerated. Some treatments for diabetic conditions may involve several sessions to complete. The laser is performed in an office procedure room and you may carry out your normal activities after completing the procedure.
If you know you will be having either procedure it is best to bring someone with you to drive.
